Apprenticeship does not equal young

In fact, with so many different types of apprenticeship being offered, it is very difficult to pigeonhole anyone who could be eligible. Which is one of the most amazing things about today’s programmes and the opportunities they offer.

A colleague of mine was working on a film for one of our clients recently. She was looking through all the transcripts of the people we would be shooting and gave me one of them to read. This was Brian. And I was captivated.

Brian had been in and out of work for a number of years. He had had some success, but also some bad luck. So when he reached an age that traditionally puts up barriers for new career choices, he didn’t hold out much hope.

However, he heard about our client’s apprenticeship programme through the Job Centre. It has taken him in a completely different direction and he has discovered things about himself that he didn’t know before – like he is great at customer service.

You hear many stories about people’s successes and why you should work somewhere in this industry, but there is great power in these relatable, non-corporate stories that break down even the most impenetrable façade and have the potential to inspire and surprise people.
